It took longer than I thought but I knew that God's timing is perfect. We had family issues that needed mama attention; medical surprises that needed testing and physical time to recover from COVID-19.
I took on a few grant projects to keep my skills up and on March 29th the official letter came. We are officially approved as a Public Charity 509(a)(2) and exempt from federal income tax under the IRC Section 501(c)(3). I am doing a dance and starting to plan our 1st official board meeting to get things going.
Many thanks to all of our supporters.

“Janeen’s name has been one of the most common to appear when we have asked for help on the Business Working Group. Starting a new business is not easy. The Empowerment GoDaddy - BBB Ignite internship has played a monumental part in setting things up RIGHT. The program was well managed and exceptionally beneficial to me because of the hands-on assistance, expert level resources and grassroots entrepreneurial friendships that have grown. Despite COVID-19 impacts, the BBB team provided flexible support like nothing that I have ever experienced. They modeled what it is to be a BBB company. Upon graduation in September 2020, I had completed the business plan, sold Shakatronics Audio Video, developed strong relationships with a Business Mentor, GoDaddy Mentor and used the services of six of my classmates. My excitement level was maintained by on-going engagement and follow up. The application for the 501(c)(3) was submitted and a stellar Board has been established. We are now waiting for IRS approval.
In January 2020, Janeen Gaskins was accepted into the Empower Ignite Better Business Bureau Go-Daddy internship. This internship was designed to help local entrepreneurs improve their business through a six-month course facilitated by subject matter experts. Janeen and Linwood Gaskins were the owners of Shakatronics Audio Video LLC, a technology integration company serving Arizona residents and businesses for 12 years. Janeen Gaskins’ goal was to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Shakatronics Audio Video LLC, so that funding would allow for a family trust to be established with the purpose of providing technology solution for low income, elderly, disabled persons and veterans.
Janeen and Linwood Gaskins were passionate about helping vulnerable populations live a better quality of life through the convenience of technology automations and mechanical integrations. Linwood Gaskins served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 2006 with a 70% disability rating. Janeen and Linwood are parents of four children (three with diagnosed disabilities) and provided care for elderly disabled parents for over 10 years. Janeen has more than 18 years of grant administrative experience with non-profits and municipal governments. As active church participants, the desire to help the underserved was a driving force in their lives.
The G.A.S.K.I.N.S. Charity was founded in May of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. After 12 years of successfully providing technology solutions throughout Arizona, the pandemic negatively impacted business stability and forced the Gaskins family to sell the business to a larger entity. During the same time-period, Janeen Gaskins use the internship’s expert advisement to start a non-profit that would do just what they had originally planned to do.
The G.A.S.K.I.N.S. (God Always Shows Kindness In Needed Situations) Charity is a home-based charity. The physical location in Litchfield Park, Arizona 85340. Office space, equipment and documents are securely maintained on in dedicated locations on the premises. Offsite office space located at the BBB in Central Phoenix is also reserved for professional meetings and presentations. Janeen Gaskins will serve at the Chief Executive Officer. Three to five board members will serve as the policy approvers and subject matter experts for the charity.
